What Is A Ceramic Coating?

A ceramic coating is a semi-permanent layer that can be applied to various surfaces of a vehicle such as the paint, glass and trims. Ceramic coatings provide an ultra-durable, scratch resistant, and hydrophobic (water repellent) layer of protection, acting like a sacrificial layer that helps protect your paint from things like bugs, bird droppings, marring and ultraviolet rays from the sun. You can even have the interior of your vehicle coated with a ceramic protection. Unlike a traditional car wax that will protect your car for a few months, a ceramic coating adheres to the paint leaving protection for years!

Benefits Of Having Your Vehicle Ceramic Coated:

  • Insane durability: Unlike traditional waxes and sealants ceramic coatings provide a long term protection, coming in a variety of durability levels lasting from 1 to 5 years.

  • UV protection: The sun’s ultraviolet rays are blocked from damaging your vehicle’s paint, preventing sun damage and clear coat failure.

  • Hydrophobic: Water repels and beads off aggressively from the paint, unlike any other protection.

  • Scratch resistance: Ceramic coatings offer some scratch resistance to minor swirl marks and marring, that may be introduced into the paint from poor washing and drying techniques.

  • Unbeatable gloss: Ceramic coatings will enhance the paint’s clarity and depth, improving the appearance of your vehicle’s reflective features, providing a glossy finish.

  • Easy maintenance: Ceramic coatings have a "self cleaning effect", actively rejecting contaminants preventing them from bonding to the surface, making maintenance a breeze.

What Is The Process Of Applying A Ceramic Coating?

Applying a ceramic coating the right way is a long process. Your vehicle’s paint needs to be completely clean.

  1. The process starts off with a thorough hand wash, gently cleaning the wheels, wheel wells and entire body of the vehicle, removing all visible dirt and traffic film.

  2. To allow the ceramic coating to adhere properly, we carry out the paint decontamination stage, using a synthetic clay bar on the surface of the vehicle to remove the embedded contaminates that we cannot see. These contaminates make the paint’s surface feel rough and cannot be removed from a regular wash. Your paint will be left feeling smooth and bare of any contaminants.

  3. The paint correction step: this is where we remove swirl marks, scratches and gloss up your vehicles paint to enhance the durability of the coating. The level of correction depends on the condition of the paint.

  4. Next we wipe down the remaining polish residue to reveal that glossy finish and provide a clean slate to allow the paint protection to bond to the paint.

  5. We then clean all exterior glass and windows leaving them streak free and apply a non-sling tyre dressing for UV protection and shine.

  6. Once the preparation is complete, we then protect your paint with the coating of your choice.

How Long Does This Process Take?

The time varies on each job. The level of paint correction and the size of your vehicle are the biggest factors. Depending on the correction a ceramic coating could take anywhere from 1 to 2 days.
